REMAKING A CHAIR

This project was made within the experimental workshop’s curse at the university which was about reconstructing an old/unused chair and creating something new. For this project I brought an unused IKEA folding chair, which can be easily recognised by its simple design and many of us have one at home. Folding chairs are most commonly used only when we have a gathering and when we need something cheap, simple and easily for our guests to sit on. With this chair, I wanted to create a different version, a version without the folding ability and minimize the minimalism. To show these simple but great chairs value, I added mahagony to the holes that were there for the folding, adding something expensive to the cheap material to match my admiration for these folding chairs.
