SOCIAL HOUSING FOR ALL

The project is located next to the Danube, at the Óbuda side of Budapest, in an area where factories once flourished and had been lived by working people. Knowing this, my aim was to design row houses, which make a social housing system and a new neighborhood in the district, where people in need can find peace and com- munity. The houses are connected at the backyards, creating a community garden where gardening and gathering can take place. In each house there are three types of apartments, the smallest on the ground floor, for people living alone, one bigger apartment with two rooms with its own entry, and an apartment for a family of four. Between the walls and the buildings, stairs are taking up space, which brings ventilation to the apartments and create an athomspheric place.
