What does a clean material mean? How does a material behave, when no one controlls it and lets it erode? Looking for answers, I created a material which was controlled by my form-making method, the temperature I gave it in the oven, and the time I was giving it to take form. After all of this, I brought the materials outside, where none of my controlling methods are affecting the totem, so that it can lose control. I document the changes of the structure every week, watching how it behaves. Using wood chips from the wood wortkshop, tapioca starch, and dried leaves from the campus I made 12 panels which was placed on a simple wood structure.
